BWGM Joint Venture combines the considerable water sector skills and experience of two RSK companies, Binnies UK and WGM Engineering. This exciting partnership combines 100 years of Binnies’ engineering expertise with WGM’s unique engineering solutions with access to their in-house fabrication, specialist coatings and workshop facilities. Here at BWGM we provide a self-delivery design and build approach for non-infrastructure project delivery, turnkey capital projects, new build solutions, capital maintenance projects, process plant integration and commissioning.

Our inhouse self-delivery strategy provides improved assurance, affordability, quality, safety, communications, innovation, and collaboration. Our projects are led by experienced programme and project managers to drive efficiencies. For BWGM, Binnies are currently looking for a Project Manager for our Southern Water framework. The role is a hybrid role with some office base and working from home.

The purpose of the Project Manager role is to deliver all Projects on-time and to budget in order to fully satisfy customer requirements and to continually develop and improve project communication and performance.

As a Project Manager, you will be the go-to person for everything involving a project’s organisation and timeline. You will be responsible for the whole life management of the project and your main focus points will be as below:

  • Developing detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation.
  • Delivering every project on time within budget and scope and to applicable HSEQ standard.
  • Building relationships with the internal teams, the client, and other relevant contractors and communicate effectively between all parties.
  • Managing the bid process from inception through design to price submission, award on contract and delivery to final handover.
  • Attending meetings as required with clients, design team and subcontractors.
  • Managing Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality process and ensuring these are adhered to across the site.
  • Ensure that comprehensive site surveys, measurements are undertaken.
  • Help to ensure HSEQ is being documented accurately throughout the office team and the site team.
  • Identifying any risks/opportunities in the project and mitigating risks.
  • Prepare supplier / subcontractor enquiry packages and liaise with Procurement to obtain competitive and compliant prices from the supply chain.
  • Presenting at internal tender reviews to demonstrate / explain how the price has been built up and to justify a robust pricing model.
  • Manage the daily operations on site and ensure project timescales are met within a safe and accurate fashion.
  • Liaise with multiple business functions and contractors to ensure successful delivery of the project.
  • Identifying any risks in the project and mitigating risks.
  • Provide necessary buildability to estimating team on how project will be delivered.
  • Liaise with Clients, Sub-Contractors, Design teams and Commercial teams.
  • Effective management and planning input to the overall programme interfaces with other projects and contribute in the co-ordination of third-party stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute and support to the effective management of construction projects, project deliverables and actions, including early planning for commissioning, handover, and final acceptance.
  • Reporting daily/weekly to the Projects Director/Contracts Delivery Manager on key aspects of progress issues and concerns at bWGM and client level.
  • Contribute to the Project Managers monthly review reports in readiness for their presentation.
  • Create and improve on an excellent Health and Safety environment with a healthy focus on training and promotion within all projects.
  • Ensuring all projects are commenced and completed to the quality standards and expectations of bWGM and our clients. 
  • Plan resource and identify the workload of current and new projects with the assistance of the Construction Manager, Senior Project Managers, and Senior Project Planner.
  • Contribute to the effective management of internal skills and resource requirements, where it is effective, efficient and when necessary, sub-contract packages set up to achieve successful delivery of all projects.
  • Provide feedback to the Pre-Construction team at all stages of construction and commissioning.
  • Support the projects business set objectives and deliverables.
  • Contribute and help to ensure that success throughout all projects is achieved by delivering the programme on time, with minimal delays that effect the pre-agreed completion dates.
  • Help to ensure that we eliminate customer and client complaints on site.
  • Review employee performance identify areas where improvements can and should be made.
  • To carry out the duties of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator, meeting the respective technical standard.
  • Duties and responsibilities are assigned under management system and the Temporary Works Co-ordinator is expected to follow the mandatory temporary works procedures.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Relevant construction qualification at HND, Degree level or equivalent.
  • Background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of construction management processes means and methods.
  • Clear understanding of NEC form of contract is preferable.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card Holder is desirable.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Valid UK Driving licence is essential.
