The Vacancy
Director of Asset Health Services
Binnies an RSK Group Company
Engineering Consultancy / Asset Inspection / Growth and P&L Leadership
Location: UK (flexible / hybrid)
Team: Asset Management
Reports to: Director of Asset Management
Who this role is for
This role is for you if you are a practical consultancy and business leader with deep asset health, maintenance and reliability experience. You are equally credible on site and developing opportunities with client leaders.
You will have built this experience in an asset owner, contractor or engineering consultancy, leading technical teams and multi-site commissions. Strong UK water-sector experience is important. This is neither a desk-based strategy role nor one that operates or maintains client assets but works between the two.
What matters:
Operators, maintainers, site managers, engineers and senior clients trust your judgement because you understand the assets and how to help their teams improve them safely.
This role may NOT be right for you if:
Why this role exists
The water sector is entering a period of intense delivery. Utility clients need reliable evidence on physical asset health and practical support to translate it into better maintenance, timely lifecycle interventions and sustained asset care.
You will lead and grow Binnies' Asset Health Services capability: engineers, technicians, inspectors and asset management specialists delivering repeatable inspection, assessment and improvement consultancy at scale.
Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, you will own the Asset Health Services P&L, new-business growth, pipeline, revenue, margin, cash, utilisation and service performance.
You will work alongside the Directors of Risk and Advisory and Digital Products and Services. Risk and Advisory will lead asset management policy, governance, maturity and ISO 55001, enterprise risk and investment frameworks, regulatory advice and business-case assurance.
Digital Products and Services will create and deliver the solutions that enable insight and decision support across the asset lifecycle.
Asset Health Services will lead physical asset inspection and evidence, develop practical maintenance and asset-care improvements, and support clients as they implement them.
You are here to help clients anticipate and identify asset health issues, define and prioritise what needs to be done, support their teams and delivery partners to implement it, and verify that the intended improvement has been achieved.
What this role is about
You connect client operations and maintenance teams with our inspection, diagnostics and asset management specialists, turning site evidence into implementable advice while leading a successful consultancy service.
You turn site observations into verified asset health data.
You turn defects into prioritised recommendations, scopes and maintenance improvement plans.
You help client teams embed the resulting routines and improvements, then check that they are working.
Asset health is not a report or one-off survey. It is a repeatable cycle of inspecting, diagnosing, recommending, supporting implementation and verifying, backed by competent people, consistent methods and usable data.
Using the frameworks agreed with Risk and Advisory, you gather evidence, define the work clients need, support better execution and confirm that completed interventions achieved their purpose.
What you might work on early
What you will do
You will combine growth and P&L ownership with asset health leadership, consultancy judgement and technical authority, delivering profitable work and client improvements that stick.
You are someone who...
Why you'll enjoy this role
You will work on nationally significant infrastructure.
You will build a profitable asset health consultancy business, a strong team and market position.
You will see clients convert our findings into real asset improvements.
You will work across sites, operations, engineering, data and technology without carrying the separate Risk and Advisory and Digital remit.
If you are already leading asset health or operations and maintenance improvement consultancy, this is an opportunity to connect evidence, work definition, implementation support and benefits verification within one accountable service.
When we get this right, you will have built a repeatable service that identifies defects, equips clients to improve asset health and verifies sustainable outcomes.
If this sounds like you
If you are excited by this challenge - and confident you can raise the bar for asset health in the water sector - we would love to hear from you. Thank you for taking the time to consider joining us.
