Construction Site Manager

Location: Site Based, North Wales
Framework: DCWW (Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water) AMP8 Design & Build
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Start Date: January 2027

The Opportunity

Ready to lead construction projects that make a real difference to the environment and the communities we serve?

Binnies is looking for experienced Construction Site Managers to join our growing Design & Build team, delivering projects across our AMP8 framework with DCWW (Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water).

As a Tier 1 Design & Build Contractor, we deliver essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of site operations, lead teams and play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality projects on time and within budget.

You'll be the driving force on site, coordinating labour, subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders, while working closely with our Project Managers, designers and commercial teams to keep projects moving.

If you're an experienced construction professional who takes pride in leading people, delivering quality and finding sustainable solutions, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As Construction Site Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of construction activities, ensuring that safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Site Management: Plan, organise and oversee daily construction activities, coordinating direct labour, subcontractors, suppliers, plant and materials.

  • Programme Delivery: Monitor progress against the construction programme, prepare look-ahead plans and identify and resolve issues that could affect delivery.

  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing: Put safety at the heart of everything you do, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015, company procedures and safe systems of work.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure construction works meet drawings, specifications, contractual requirements and client expectations, managing inspections, snagging and defects.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate and develop site teams, promoting our ENGAGED behaviours and creating a positive, collaborative working environment.

  • Planning & Preparation: Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), surveys and pre-construction activities, including preparation of Construction Phase Plans and supporting documentation.

  • Commercial Awareness: Monitor site costs, manage resources efficiently and support the commercial team with progress reports and valuation information.

  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the main point of contact on site, liaising with clients, consultants, local authorities and other stakeholders.

  • Reporting & Communication: Maintain accurate site diaries, inspection records and reports, attend project meetings and escalate risks, delays and issues where necessary.

You'll also be responsible for conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, inspections and risk assessments, investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.

About You

You'll be an experienced Construction Site Manager with a strong background in delivering construction projects and the confidence to lead teams in a demanding site environment.

You'll bring:

  • Experience managing construction activities within civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • A strong understanding of health and safety legislation, CDM 2015 and safe systems of work, particularly within treatment works environments.

  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, supervise, coach and develop site teams.

  • Strong programme, planning and commercial awareness, with experience monitoring progress and managing resources.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to quality, sustainability and environmental responsibility.

  • Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Experience using MS Project and/or Primavera P6 planning software.

  • A valid UK driving licence.

You'll also need:

  • Valid SMSTS (5-day course).

  • CSCS Card.

  • Confined Space training to at least medium-risk level.

  • First Aid at Work training.

  • Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor certificate.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Previous experience delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • An understanding of NEC forms of contract.

  • Experience using contract management systems such as CEMAR.

  • A sound understanding of planned preventative maintenance.

  • An HNC/HND in Construction, Civil Engineering or Project Management.

  • NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent qualification.

  • Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIWEM or CIEEM.

You may also undertake relevant Binnies training, where appropriate to the role, including Approved Person (AP) and Approved Person Isolation (API) training for our Electrical Safety Rules and Isolation Safety Rules, and Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) training.
